Aungkur Palli Unnayan Kendra (APUK) is a rural based, woman focused non- political, non-profit, Bangladeshi development organization, established by MD Ayub Ali Talukder in 1989 with a view to create an intensive and far reaching participatory sustainable development for isolated poor and learned to understand their needs by finding practical ways to increase their access to resources, support their entrepreneurship and empower them to become agents of change. The organization is committed to improving the quality of lives of disadvantaged people through providing need based development services in education, human development, health and hygiene (watsan), micro-finance, agriculture, legal and human rights and gender equity adaptation to climatic change etc. Women and girls have been the focus of Aungkur’s anti-poverty approach. The Organization also recognizes both their vulnerabilities and thirst for change. The ultimate aim of the organizations is to mobilize the poor to form grass-root level organizations that could become involved in the development process and eventually challenge the unequal rural social order.
